Why it's big: Among the 352 playoff games being played in Texas this weekend, no other contest can match the luster of this one. Two teams with a combined nine trips to state championship games the last 14 seasons going head-to-head in round one.

Carroll (8-2) has made it to at least the second week of the playoffs every season since 2000. A loss Friday would give the Dragons only their third season with less than 10 wins since 2002.

Cedar Hill (9-1) has a tough road ahead to reach a state championship game for the fourth consecutive season. The Longhorns were nationally ranked before an upset loss to Mansfield on Oct. 29 that cost them the District 8-6A championship.

Names to watch: In addition to an explosive offense averaging more than 43 points per game, Carroll has a formidable defense that features a pair of Big 12 recruits in the secondary. Senior cornerback Obi Eboh has verbally committed to Texas and junior free safety Robert Barnes is an Oklahoma commit.

Cedar Hill junior Avery Davis is the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback in his class, according to 247Sports. He has 1,966 passing yards, 857 rushing yards and 34 total touchdowns this season.
