Softball Game Preview: Wando Warriors vs. Fort Dorchester Patriots

The Wando Warriors will head out to take on the Fort Dorchester Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wando has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Fort Dorchester will come in with seven straight wins.

Wando fell victim to Summerville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Green Wave.

Meanwhile, Fort Dorchester hadn't done well against Hanahan recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Fort Dorchester came out on top against Hanahan by a score of 11-8. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Janiyah Ray was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Destiny Copeland was another key player, scoring two runs.

Fort Dorchester's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Wando, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Wando came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Dorchester when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 5-4. Will Wando repeat their success, or does Fort Dorchester have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
