Baseball Recap: Ravenswood Takes a Loss

Ravenswood dropped their record down to 15-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Sissonville Indians, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Red Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Sissonville, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Sissonville's part, Eli Simonton and Isiah Hicks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Simonton struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Hicks tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Simonton has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Simonton went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Hicks went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most runs Simonton has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Barrett Van Camp was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Layne Coffman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Ravenswood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sissonville, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against PikeView at 6:30 p.m. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
