Baseball Game Preview: Peyton Panthers vs. Monte Vista Pirates

The Peyton Panthers will take on the Monte Vista Pirates at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Peyton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

Peyton heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They fell 3-0 to Highland. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Bryce Love put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Forge Christian. Like the Panthers, the Pirates also had to let a streak go: they had won four straight, but that streak is no more.

Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Peyton, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 20-2.
