Volleyball Recap: Abington Heights Finds Playoff Glory Versus Freedom

Abington Heights had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Freedom Patriots on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Comets: when they faced off against the Patriots back in March, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (111-109) Abington Heights actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 16-25, 20-25, 25-21, 23-21.

Shawn Theodore Jr. paced Abington Heights' offense, picking up 26 kills. Theodore Jr. got some help from Ryan Horutz and his 54 assists. Chase Beerman controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Abington Heights, bringing their record up to 16-4. As for Freedom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-7.

Abington Heights has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Cumberland Valley on the 7th. Freedom does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
