Softball Recap: Old Lyme Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Old Lyme got themselves on the board against Westbrook on Saturday, but Westbrook never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Old Lyme pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Westbrook, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Old Lyme will welcome Hale Ray at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Noises will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westbrook, they will face off against Portland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Highlanders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.14 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
