Bethel Christian extends road losing streak to eight

Bethel Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 50-36 to Surprise Valley. If Bethel Christian was looking for revenge after losing 64-39 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Bethel Christian saw an underclassman step up: Rad Schenkenberger dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Schenkenberger hasn't dropped below four blocks for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Johnson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Leading Surprise Valley to victory were Iina Nabahe-Henry and Casey Grove. Nabahe-Henry scored 15 points along with four steals, while Grove dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Nabahe-Henry has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Wyatt Carpenter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.

Bethel Christian's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Surprise Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethel Christian will take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Butte Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. As for Surprise Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on January 31st. Dunsmuir has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
