Softball Recap: Spearfish Takes a Loss

Spearfish was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 16-9 to the O'Gorman Knights. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 21-3 to the Knights when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Danika Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Liv Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Spearfish's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for O'Gorman, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Spearfish is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln on Tuesday. Meanwhile, O'Gorman will square off against rival Brookings at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
