Baseball Recap: Tustin Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Tustin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Fullerton Indians 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Tillers: when they faced off against the Indians back in March, they had to take a 8-1 defeat.

Jeffery Nesmith tossed a big game, tossing eight innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tustin secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Adam Whyte, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Tustin is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-13-1 record this season. As for Fullerton, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-6-1.

Tustin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-2 victory against Valencia on the 16th. Hopefully Fullerton paid attention to the Tillers' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Tillers at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
