Football Recap: Padua Franciscan Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Padua Franciscan's offense. They were beaten by the Lake Catholic Cougars 30-0 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Bruins in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Grant McClelland threw for 82 yards on 12 of 18 attempts. Trey Gasparro was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards.

Danny Zmorowski had a dynamite game For Lake Catholic., rushing for 173 yards and one TD while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Zmorowski was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards. Another player making a difference was Max Pisano, who rushed for 52 yards and a pair of scores.

Padua Franciscan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Lake Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Padua Franciscan will face off against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Royals' defense has only allowed 7.4 points per game this season, so the Bruins' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Holy Name at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 11.9, the Green Wave 14.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
