On Saturday, Payson faced Morgan in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Payson Lions walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Morgan Trojans. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Brockton Shirley paced Payson's offense, picking up 21 kills. Shirley got some help from Dillon Houston and his 27 assists.

Morgan's loss came despite strong showings from Ryker Field and David Thomsen. Field had 21 digs, while Thomsen had four blocks and three digs. That's the most blocks Thomsen has posted over his last six matches.

Payson's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Morgan, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 7-1 record.

Coming up, Payson will square off against Provo at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Provo will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Payson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Morgan, they will face off against Davis at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
