Baseball Recap: Nucla Comes Up Short

Nucla lost to Dolores on Wednesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mustangs took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cole Bray was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Hayden Branham also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Nucla's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Dolores, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Nucla will be playing at home against La Veta at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Redhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.67 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Dolores, they will head out to take on Ignacio at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
