Softball Game Preview: Mission Vista vs. Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns

Mission Vista will venture away from home to square off against the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Vista's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matchups, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mission Vista's last matchup with Torrey Pines could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. Mission Vista lost 13-1 to Torrey Pines.

Mission Vista saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylie O'Neill, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Rancho Buena Vista made sure to put some runs up on the board against Carlsbad on Thursday. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 10-2 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the Longhorns' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The team relied heavily on Avery Griffin, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley McGee, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Rancho Buena Vista hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlsbad struck out nine times.

Rancho Buena Vista's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-8. As for Mission Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
