Basketball Game Preview: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Nash Central Bulldogs

Franklinton has gone 7-0 against Nash Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Franklinton Red Rams will take on the Nash Central Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Franklinton was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Rocky Mount. While losing is never fun, the Red Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Gryphons are ranked 53rd).

Franklinton might have lost, but man, Meredith Wilkins was a machine: she posted 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Wilkins a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Hunt, who earned four points in addition to six blocks and three steals.

Meanwhile, Nash Central waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 49-34 victory over the Firebirds. 49 seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Nash Central's win came from a few key players Franklinton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Marquasia Warren, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 14 points. Cameron Fate was another key player, putting up five points and 11 rebounds.

Nash Central has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Franklinton, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-6.

Franklinton was able to grind out a solid victory over Nash Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 40-32. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Fate, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine blocks.
