Baseball Recap: Walnut Takes a Loss

Walnut had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-16 to make it ten. They fell just short of the Pine Grove Panthers by a score of 15-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered against the Panthers since March 8, 2021.

As for Pine Grove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10. 15 seems to be a good number for them as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Pine Grove's part, Talen Wilkerson was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Wilkerson has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Riggs Childs was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Walnut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pine Grove, they will challenge Byers on Friday.
