Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Hornets vs. Mountain Empire Redhawks

Lincoln has won nine straight games at home, while Mountain Empire has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Hornets will host the Redhawks at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Lincoln beat Crawford 10-5.

Aladar Herrera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sebastian Sosa, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Mendoza, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crawford only posted an OBP of .355.

Meanwhile, Mountain Empire never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Ocean View Christian 13-0. Considering the Redhawks have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Mountain Empire, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.

Everything went Lincoln's way against Mountain Empire when the teams last played back in March of 2017, as Lincoln made off with a 13-7 win. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
