Basketball Preview: Erie Tigers vs. Boulder Panthers
The Erie Tigers and the Boulder Panthers will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Erie is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
On Saturday, Erie didn't have too much trouble with the Knights on the road as they won 45-29. Given Erie's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Knights are ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Erie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Hartel led the charge by scoring 11 points along with three steals. Juliet Slater was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Boulder had to suffer through a rough 70-40 loss at the hands of the Coyotes. Boulder has not had much luck with the Coyotes recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Erie is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Boulder, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-12.
Everything came up roses for Erie against the Panthers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 55-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Erie since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
