Basketball Recap: Taniyah Outten's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rome Free Academy over Notre Dame

Rome Free Academy was the 62-54 winner over Notre Dame when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Rome Free Academy Black Knights came up short against the Notre Dame Jugglers on Tuesday, falling 62-37.

Rome Free Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Taniyah Outten, who posted 12 points and five steals. Outten has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Isabella Cunningham was another key player, putting up eight points and nine boards.

Rome Free Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Notre Dame, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Rome Free Academy will venture away from home to take on Oneida at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Notre Dame, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rome Free Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th.
