Baseball Recap: Weir Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brooke, Weir was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Beaver Local Beavers. The Red Riders haven't had any issues with the Beavers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Nick DiMatteis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Weir is undefeated when DiMatteis posts two or more runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Aleks Zanieski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Weir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Weir's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Beaver Local, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.

Weir wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against Edison on the 24th. As for Beaver Local, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-2 loss against Columbiana on the 24th.
