League recap: More (18-5) tops in Private School play

Private School league recap: 5/21/12

More currently leads the league with a 18-5 record overall and a 14-0 mark during league play. Alma Heights Christian is three games back and in second place with an 11-3 league record.

The Knights boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. More has given up a mere 84 hits on the year, while striking out 189 opposing hitters. Luke Newman is the leader in that category with 87 Ks on the season.

North Valley Baptist struck out 44 times as a team over the past week, but the Eagles are still the biggest offender of swings and misses on the season, with 132 in all.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Matt Barela, who turned in three Ks for St. Lawrence. With 21 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks thirteenth in the league.

Andrew Martinez led the league with six hits this week for North Valley Baptist. His eight hits for the year are thirty-fourth in the league, and he boasts a .320 batting average.
