Volleyball Recap: Marquette Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Blue Valley Southwest + How To Watch

Marquette is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Blue Valley Southwest. The Mustangs fell just short of the Timberwolves by a score of 3-2.

Marquette took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 15-11.

Teagan Pocius paced Marquette's offense, picking up 19 kills. Pocius got some help from Maggie Smith and her 29 assists. Pocius was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Melia Peters went supernova For Blue Valley Southwest., getting 30 digs and four assists. Those 30 digs gave Peters a new career-high.

Marquette's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Blue Valley Southwest beat Marquette by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.
