Recap: Mohawk Area Warriors vs. Steel Valley Ironmen
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Mohawk Area Warriors can now relate to. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Steel Valley on Friday.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justin Boston, who rushed for 144 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Boston was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Bobby Fadden was another key contributor, picking up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Mohawk Area's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Dan Monaco and his two sacks.
Donald Barksdale was his usual excellent self, rushing for 257 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, and also throwing for 74 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Barksdale is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Mohawk Area's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Steel Valley, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Mohawk Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Steel Valley will take on Beaver Falls at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaver Falls will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
