Basketball Recap: Standing Bear Takes a Loss

Standing Bear was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by the Bennington Badgers 71-22. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-5.

Braylee Vasa and Lily Hansmeier certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Vasa posted nine points, while Hansmeier scored two points. Lindyn Stutzman also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Bennington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macie Reiner, who had ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Reiner a new career-high in steals (five). Addison Reinoehl was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Standing Bear's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Bennington, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Standing Bear is taking a road trip to face off against Glenwood at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bennington, they will host Elkhorn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bennington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
