Baseball Recap: Newark Charter School Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Newark Charter School's offense. They fell just short of the Smyrna Eagles by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Newark Charter School saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Doron Griffin, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Newark Charter School's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Smyrna, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-14.

While Newark Charter School had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
