Braves dominate Serra 45-0 in Open Division finals, will also finish atop the national MaxPreps Top 25 rankings.

The high school football season in California came to a close over the weekend and it's no surprise that St. John Bosco (Bellflower) ends No. 1 in the Golden State after its dominating 45-0 win in the CIF Open Division final Saturday over Serra (San Mateo). The victory not only cemented the Braves' spot atop the final California MaxPreps Top 25, but secured their No. 1 ranking in the national poll as well.

Jason Negro's squad went 13-1 on the season, losing only to Mater Dei (Santa Ana) in their Trinity League meeting before flipping the script on the Monarchs in the Southern Section Division 1 final.

Against Serra, Louisville commit Pierce Clarkson led the Braves with nearly 200 yards passing and a score while Khalil Warren and Cameron Jones each ran for a pair of scores. The dominating defense was led by the secondary, including seven tackles from Tamal Johnson and Aaron Williams, who had four tackles and a 31-yard pick-six.

Mater Dei, which saw the long and storied career of coach Bruce Rollinson come to an end, finished No. 2.

Lincoln (San Diego), which won a 1-AA final thriller over De La Salle (Concord), finishes No. 3. The Hornets got more than 200 yards rushing and four touchdowns from Georgia commit Roderick Robinson in the 33-28 victory.
