Preview: Lecanto Panthers vs. Belleview Rattlers
The Lecanto Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Belleview Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
Lecanto suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 60-35 defeat at the hands of Leesburg. Lecanto's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Xena Bellamy, who scored 11 points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Ijyana Edwards was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Belleview posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. Everything went their way against Ocala Christian as Belleview made off with a 51-27 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Belleview has posted against Ocala Christian since January 8, 2018.
Lecanto's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Belleview, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Lecanto didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Belleview in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 37-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lecanto since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
