Baseball Recap: Grassfield Wins Going Away Against Forbush

The Grassfield Grizzlies got the win against the Forbush Falcons on Saturday by a conclusive 8-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Giacomo Franco made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Grassfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Logan Shaw looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

Back at the plate, Cayden McBride was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Farris, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Grassfield now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Forbush, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Grassfield has already played their next match (against Woodside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Forbush, they will head out on the road to challenge East Surry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
