Basketball Recap: Coventry Takes a Loss

Coventry and Grasso Tech squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Coventry had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the Grasso Tech Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

Julius Washington was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 15 boards for Grasso Tech. The game was Washington's 22nd in a row with at least 15 points. Jordan Washington was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Coventry's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Grasso Tech, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Coventry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grasso Tech, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-71 defeat against Old Lyme on the 10th.
