Softball Game Preview: Compton Early College Rising Phoenix vs. Centennial Apaches

The Compton Early College Rising Phoenix will venture away from home to square off against the Centennial Apaches at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Compton Early College's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Compton Early College's tournament run continued when they took on Dominguez on Wednesday. Compton Early College blew past Dominguez 21-6. The Rising Phoenix have beaten the Dons the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dons has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 23-2 to Hawthorne.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Compton Early College, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Compton Early College was able to grind out a solid victory over Centennial in their previous matchup back in February, winning 16-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Compton Early College since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
