Softball Recap: Madison Bulldogs vs. Hall-Dale Bulldogs
Madison had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-4 to make it four. They lost 16-2 to Hall-Dale. If Madison was looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to Hall-Dale when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Hall-Dale, the win (which was their 11th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.3 runs thus far.
For Hall-Dale's part, Lucy Gray made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Gray has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Torie Tibbetts, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Claire Kapinos was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
