Southeast was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Waterloo Vikings. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Southeast took Waterloo into a fifth set where they got it done with a ten-point win. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-12, 25-20, 14-25, 15-5.

Southeast's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Waterloo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. After both having extra time off, Southeast and Canton Central Catholic will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waterloo, they will take on East Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
