Basketball Recap: Emma Sorrell Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. Francis Desales

Bloom-Carroll saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They took down the St. Francis DeSales Stallions 54-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloom-Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Sorrell, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 18 boards. Sorrell is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Whitney Passen, who went 5-for-8 en route to 17 points.

Bloom-Carroll smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive contests.

Bloom-Carroll's record is now 11-12. As for St. Francis DeSales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Coming up, Bloom-Carroll will challenge Whitehall-Yearling at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Whitehall-Yearling knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Bloom-Carroll likes a good challenge. St. Francis DeSales does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
