Basketball Recap: Chestnut Ridge Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Chestnut Ridge won the last time they faced Bellwood-Antis and things went their way on Friday too. The Chestnut Ridge Lions rang in the new year with a 62-51 win over the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 684th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bellwood-Antis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Dorminy, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Dorminy a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Shedlock, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Chestnut Ridge Lions face off against the Penn Cambria Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chestnut Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 183 points over their last three matches. As for Bellwood-Antis, they will head out to challenge Bald Eagle Area at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
