Football Game Preview: Andrean Fighting 59ers vs. Adams Central Flying Jets

Andrean has won five straight games at home, while Adams Central has won five straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Fighting 59ers will welcome the Flying Jets at 7:00 p.m. Andrean will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Andrean is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 52-32 margin over Southmont. The result was nothing new for the Fighting 59ers, who have now won seven games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Andrean to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brady Elish, who rushed for 64 yards and one TD on only nine carries, and also threw for 123 yards and one touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Elish a new career-high in passer rating (166.7). Tyler Vo was another key pass catcher, picking up 155 receiving yards and one score.

Andrean didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mitchell Myers and Javier McCoy. McCoy got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Andrean, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Gavin Jones, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Adams Central was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They took down Eastbrook 42-28.

Adams Central's win bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Andrean, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.

Andrean couldn't quite get it done against Adams Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 20-13. Can the Fighting 59ers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
