Softball Recap: Paxton Drops Highest Score of Season Against Freeport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paxton). They were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Freeport Bulldogs on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in March, they had to take a 10-6 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Taylor Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Dani Thompson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Phillips wasn't the only one making solid contact: Paxton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freeport only managed five hits.

Paxton's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Freeport, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Paxton will welcome Ponce De Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Freeport, they will head out to take on Vernon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
