Basketball Recap: Maxwell Lagan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cottage over Varsity Opponent

Cottage lost against Varsity Opponent last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cottage Cougars fell just short of Varsity Opponent by a score of 43-40.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maxwell Lagan, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. The contest was Lagan's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jackson Barnes was another key player, putting up eight points along with 12 rebounds and seven assists.

Cottage's loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cottage Cougars duke it out with the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cottage has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Varsity Opponent, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-43 defeat against North Tampa Christian Academy on the 31st.
