Softball Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Takes a Loss

If Incarnate Word Academy was riding high fresh off their 19-0 takedown of First Baptist Christian last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Incarnate Word Academy came up short against Kinkaid on Monday, falling 24-11. Incarnate Word Academy hasn't had much luck with Kinkaid recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Olivia Montemayor led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leighton Murphy, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Incarnate Word Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5-1. As for Kinkaid, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1.

Looking ahead, Incarnate Word Academy will face off against First Baptist Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kinkaid, they will square off against St. Pius X at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Kinkaid has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
