Recap: Gaither Cowboys vs. Spoto Spartans
The Gaither Cowboys waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They managed a 58-53 win over Spoto. That's another feather in the cap for Gaither, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jayce Humphries was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points. Another player making a difference was Marc Fransberg, who scored eight points.
Gaither's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Spoto, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gaither will take on Middleton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Middleton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Gaither is ranked 323rd). Spoto won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Blake at 8:00 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Blake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday.
