Baseball Recap: Mira Monte Takes a Loss

Mira Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 7-4 to the South Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 14-10 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Justin Gomez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Velasquez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mira Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for South, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mira Monte will face off against Santa Maria at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Santa Maria will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Mira Monte surely won't give up without a fight. As for South, they will take on Woodlake at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
