Basketball Recap: North Shelby Takes a Loss

North Shelby lost against Canton back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The North Shelby Raiders fell 56-49 to the Canton Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while the Tigers are ranked 86th).

Preston Brewer was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 16 rebounds for Canton. The match was Brewer's 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Frazier, who posted ten points and seven boards.

North Shelby has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Canton, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

North Shelby wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-68 win against Schuyler County on the 22nd. As for Canton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-47 victory against Brookfield on the 21st.
