Basketball Recap: Elliott County Piles Up the Points Against Phelps

Elliott County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Phelps Hornets, posting an 84-51 win. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 63-50 loss the last time these two teams met.

Despite the defeat, Phelps saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tyler Weddington dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Jahmar Stewart, who posted 11 points.

Elliott County's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elliott County will square off against Raceland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Phelps, they will take on Mingo Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
