Baseball Game Preview: Tygarts Valley Bulldogs vs. Pendleton County Wildcat

The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs will square off against the Pendleton County Wildcat at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Tygarts Valley's offense. They fell just short of Petersburg by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Ian Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Tygarts Valley is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tygarts Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Drennen, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Pendleton County's offense. They came up short against Point Pleasant on Monday, falling 10-0. The Wildcat just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Pendleton County now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Tygarts Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tygarts Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pendleton County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Tygarts Valley's way against Pendleton County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Tygarts Valley made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcat turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
