Baseball Recap: Tupelo's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

After a string of six wins, Tupelo's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Hernando Tigers by a score of 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Golden Wave, who until this matchup were averaging 3.56 runs allowed.

Tupelo got a good showing from Andrew Goad, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Tyler Johnson led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Andrew Kieffer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Even though they lost, Tupelo lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Tupelo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Hernando, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Tupelo will be playing at home against Germantown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Tupelo's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Germantown's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hernando, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers face off against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Hernando's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
