Baseball Preview: Smethport Hubbers vs. Kane Wolves

Smethport is 2-8 against Kane since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Hubbers will host the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Kane took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Smethport, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Smethport needed a bit of extra time to put away Oswayo Valley. They skirted past the Green Wave 9-8. The Hubbers haven't had any issues with the Green Wave recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Owen Rounsville made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Smethport is undefeated when Rounsville posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Hungiville, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
