Softball Recap: Mcgregor Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

While McGregor's victory against Gatesville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The McGregor Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gatesville Hornets on Thursday, sneaking past 6-5. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

McGregor's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Knox, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Knox's first of the season.

McGregor's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Gatesville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-7-1 record this season.

McGregor and Gatesville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. McGregor will square off against Life Waxahachie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 972 places (47 vs. 1019). The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (McGregor 2.4, Gatesville 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Similarly, Gatesville (ranked 173rd) will meet Connally (ranked 842nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McGregor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
