Softball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence's last matchup with Highland could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Falcons came up short against the Scots, falling 12-0. The shutout was out of character for the Falcons seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Independence has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14-1 record this season. As for Highland, they pushed their record up to 17-7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Independence will venture away from home to face off against Bakersfield Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Highland, they are taking a road trip to challenge Frontier at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
