Basketball Recap: Downtown Doral Dolphins vs. Westwood Christian Warriors
The Downtown Doral Dolphins won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 65-29 loss at the hands of Westwood Christian. While losing is never fun, Downtown Doral can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 661st, while the Warriors are ranked 210th).
Despite the loss, Downtown Doral still got an impressive performance from Paolo Guerrero, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Leiva, who scored five points.
Westwood Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Nadaskay, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayden Rosario, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Downtown Doral's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-15. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Westwood Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Downtown Doral will square off against the Biggie at TBD on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Reece Randolph and Juan Diego Castro. As for Westwood Christian, they will face off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greater Miami Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
