Basketball Recap: Holmes Aces vs. Pasquotank County Panthers
After flying high against Bear Grass Charter last Wednesday, Holmes came back down to earth. The Holmes Aces fell to the Pasquotank County Panthers 63-58. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aces this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-51 back in January.
Several Aces players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Naijhir White, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Tucker Baldwin, who posted 14 points.
Even though they lost, Holmes was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pasquotank County only racked up nine assists.
Jayon Harris had an outrageously good game for Pasquotank County as he went 8 of 10 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. What's more, Harris also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Branden Smith was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and six boards.
Holmes has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Pasquotank County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.
Holmes has already played their next game, a 72-52 loss against First Flight on the 1st. As for Pasquotank County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-54 defeat against Northeastern on the 1st.
