Baseball Recap: Foley Has No Trouble Against Dalton

Foley was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Dalton on Monday. The Foley Lions put the hurt on the Dalton Catamounts with a sharp 18-4 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Connor Laughery looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he also posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Foley got a massive performance out of Gavin Glass, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave Glass a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Heiden, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Foley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Foley's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Dalton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Foley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Moss Point's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dalton, they will square off against Calhoun at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
