Softball Game Preview: Salpointe Catholic Lancers vs. Mica Mountain Thunderbolts

For the second straight game, Salpointe Catholic will face off against Mica Mountain. The Lancers will welcome the Thunderbolts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Salpointe Catholic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Salpointe Catholic blew Mica Mountain out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Mica Mountain got their revenge. The Lancers fell just short of the Thunderbolts by a score of 3-1.

Macee Jackson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Salpointe Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Camp, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Mica Mountain has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Salpointe Catholic, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 17-6-1.
